Rascals Edge Grizzlies In Extras In Front of 4,125

SAUGET, IL - Jason Patton ripped a game-winning two-run homer in the tenth inning and the River City Rascals edged the Gateway Grizzlies 6-5 in extras on Monday night at GCS Ballpark. The win was the eighth in a row for River City.
The Grizzlies rallied in the tenth inning, scoring a run on a Landon Hernandez RBI single, but Gateway left the game-tying run on second base to end the game.
Gateway put up a fight in the late innings. After being down 4-1, Gateway scored two in the eighth, one in the ninth and one in tenth.
The Grizzlies captured an early 1-0 lead with a Logan Parker solo home run, his second in as many nights. Parker now has 11 homers on the season.
River City scored three runs on two hits in the second inning to take a 3-1 lead. After Joash Brodin was hit by a pitch, Chad Maddox followed with a two-run homer. The homer was the eighth of the season for Maddox, with all eight coming on the road. Hitting next, Jareck West went deep to give the Rascals back-to-back homers.
Parker led the Grizzlies offense with a 3-for-4 night. Parker had two doubles and a homer, while driving in three.
Brad Stone got the start for Gateway. Stone gave up four runs on seven hits in seven innings, notching a no decision. Chris Enourato (0-3) took the loss for Gateway.
The Grizzlies wrap up their three game series with the River City Rascals on Tuesday night at GCS Ballpark. First pitch is set for 7:05 CT.
