Southern Illinois Miners News Release
MARION, Ill. - Rent One Park will host a Guns vs. Hoses softball game prior to the Southern Illinois Miners game against the Rockford RiverHawks on Wednesday, Aug. 10. Local law enforcement officers and firefighters will battle it out on the diamond beginning at 5:15 p.m., and the Miners game will begin at 7:05 p.m. Admission to both games will be included in the regularly priced Miners ticket for the day.
In light of the tragedy that took place in Du Quoin earlier this year, the Southern Illinois Miners will donate 50 percent of the price of each ticket purchased for the game to the Shaw Memorial Fund. The Miners will also donate their portion of the night's 50/50 raffle to the Shaw Memorial Fund as we all join together to remember a fallen hero, Corey Shaw of the Du Quoin Fire Department.
Gates will open at 5 p.m. for the game, and group rates are available for groups as small as 10 people.
