Wild Things Fall to Lake Erie Crushers

WASHINGTON, PA. - Despite tying the game early, the Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Financial, fell to the Lake Erie Crushers (4-1). The Crushers scored three runs in the fifth inning to take a comfortable lead (4-1) over the Wild Things Monday night.

Wild Things starting pitcher Gary Lee struck out the first batter of the game, center fielder Patrick Norris. Lake Erie right fielder scored in the top of the first inning on a double by short stop Andrew Davis giving the Crushers a 1-0 lead.

Later in the inning, Wild Things first basemen Doug Thennis drove in center fielder Chris Sidick tying the game at 1-1.

Lake Erie rallied in the fifth inning off of Kyle Shaffer's home run. Andrew Davis's triple drove in Jereme Milons. Kellen Kulbacki singled to plate Davis. Davis had a solid hitting performance going (3-4). The Crushers took a 4-1 lead.

Washington starter, Gary Lee pitched for seven innings, allowing four runs on thirteen hits, and striking out four batters. Steven Grife would take the mound to pitch the remaining 2.0 innings. Grife (1-1) took the loss.
