Rockford Aviators News Release

LOVES PARK - The Aviators fell for the 2nd time to the Rascals Saturday night, going down by a final of 11-3. Michael Hur had 3 hits in the game for the Aviators, who kept it close until the 7th, when the Rascals were able to post 4 runs to put the game out of reach.

David Diaz started for the Aviators and allowed just 1 ER over the course of 6 innings. The defense was not sharp behind him though, and the Aviators committed errors in the 1st and 4th that led to runs for the Rascals, who posted 4 total tallies against Diaz in his 3rd pro start.

The Aviators got 1st inning RBI from Danny Stienstra and Cameron Garfield to make a 3-0 deficit into a 1-run game. The Aves got another in the bottom of the 4th on the first Aviator homerun for 2B Raul Linares.

Linares's blast made it 4-3, and that score would hold until the 7th. But the Rascals got 3 base hits to start that frame and would post 4 runs in the inning against Eric Cendejas to turn it into an 8-3 contest. They would add 3 more in the 9th against Matt Frahm to get to their final mark.

Michael Hur, Devon Rodriguez, and Danny Stienstra all had multiple hits in the contest for the Aviators, who close out the series with the Rascals tomorrow at 3:05. Kyle Brueggemann is expected to go for the Aviators.

Tickets for the game are available and can be purchased by calling 815-885-BALL or emailing tickets@rockfordaviators.com . Fans can play catch on the field from 2-2:30 pm, and kids will be able to run the bases following the action.
