Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release

The Grand Junction Rockies were held to four hits Thursday night at Lindquist Field as they lost to the Ogden Raptors 8-1.

Will Golsan singled on the game's first pitch as the Rockies loaded the bases with nobody out in the top of the first, but they could only manage one run which came home when Niko Decolati reached on a fielder's choice. From that point on, the Rockies could only get a man to second base two more times the rest of the night.

Ogden tied the game in the third when Dillon Paulson singled home Daniel Robinson with one out. That came off Trent Fennell who surrendered just that run in 2.2 innings in his second start of the season, and after Rayne Supple kept the Raptors off the board for the next 2.1 innings, they took the lead against Reagan Todd in the sixth.

Niko Hulsizer's RBI single made it 2-1, and then Paulson hit a 2-run homer off Todd with two out in the seventh. They broke the game open in the eighth when Jacob Amaya hit a 2-out grand slam off Jesse Lepore.

The two home runs give the Raptors 50 in 2018, 15 have come against Rockies pitching.

Joel Inoa earned the win for Ogden after allowing one run in 6.2 innings. Hunter Speer recorded the game's final seven outs for his second save.

Jaiver Guevara was the only Rockies player with two hits, while Golsan added a walk to go with his leadoff single. The four hits match a season-low for Grand Junction.

The loss drops the Rockies to 1-1 in the second half, 21-19 overall, but they still have a chance for a series win in Ogden. They'll play the rubber game of the three game set Friday night. The first pitch is set for 7:00.
