Osprey and Mustangs Play Game Two of Series Friday

MISSOULA, MONT - The Missoula Osprey (19-20, 0-1) and Billings Mustangs (16-23, 1-0) are set for game two of the second half of the season and the series Friday from Dehler Park. First pitch is slated for 7:05 pm.
On the mound for the Osprey is Deyni Olivero (1-2). The right-hander owns a 2.91 ERA in seven starts, logging 34 innings with 25 strikeouts. Olivero comes off a July 21 start vs. Idaho Falls in which he tossed five innings of one-run baseball for his first win of the season. The 20-year-old has six starts of at least five innings this year, while two of them have gone six innings. Friday marks the second time Olivero matches up against the Mustangs, facing Billings on Opening Day where he hurled five innings and allowed two earned runs.
His opposition for Billings is right-hander James Marinan (0-1). The 19-year-old has three starts with the Mustangs this season while allowing eight earned runs in seven innings. Marinan was traded from the Los Angeles Dodgers organization to the Cincinnati Reds on July 4, and has made a total of six starts this season in the minors.
In the series opener Thursday, Billings started the second half with a 4-1 victory over Missoula, aided by a grand slam from Mariel Bautista. Osprey starter Marcos Tineo (1-2) went pitch for pitch with Mustangs starter Jared Solomon (4-2) for the first two innings before he ran into trouble in the third frame.
Drew Mount led off the inning with an infield single while Carlos Rivero followed him with a base knock and Jonathan India was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Mariel Bautista then launched a grand slam, the first against the Osprey this season, to give Billings a 4-0 lead.
Missoula's offense put three runners on base in between the third and eighth innings, but could not drive home a run. The Osprey offense broke out in the top of the ninth with two outs as Zack Shannon drove a double off the leftfield wall. William Gorman then drove him in with a double to make the final score 4-1 in favor of the Mustangs.
Geraldo Perdomo finished the day 2-2 with two singles and two walks along with a stolen base for the Osprey. Pedro Zorrilla pitched three scoreless innings out of the Missoula bullpen as Blake Workman pitched a scoreless eighth.
The loss is tagged to Tineo, who lasted four innings and gave up four earned runs. Solomon picks up his fourth win of the season after logging 5.1 innings on the evening.
Missoula returns to action Friday for a 7:05 pm first pitch against the Billings Mustangs from Dehler Park. The Selway Armory Pregame Show begins at 6:45 p.m. on ESPN 102.9 and the MiLB First Pitch App.
