Ogden Raptors News Release
The fifth contest of the series came and went, and in a long, drawn-out battle between the two sides, the Wheelers managed to squeak out a one-run win. This one was all about retaliation, and it started almost immediately.
After a Bobby Lada home run in the first got the Highwheelers on the board, Chris Sargent answered right back, launching a two-run shot to the opposite field to give the Raptors a 2-1 lead. Not to be outdone, Cooper Hext of the Wheelers homered in the next frame to tie things at two apiece before River Orsak got in on the action, blasting a two-run homer of his own to put the Wheelers back in front.
Now trailing by two, the Raptors rallied in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings - using disciplined at-bats and timely hitting to surge ahead with an 8-4 lead. Despite the offensive explosion and solid pitching depth, the Wheelers clawed their way back. River Orsak's second home run of the night - this one in the sixth - cut the deficit to one.
In the seventh, more clutch hitting from the Wheelers allowed them to tie the game and then take a 9-8 lead heading into the bottom half of the inning. The Raptors had chances - including a bases-loaded, nobody-out opportunity in the ninth - but couldn't cash in. The Wheelers held on to steal the win and now lead the season series 3-2.
With one game left in this six-game series, the Raptors will look for a bounce-back win tomorrow at 1:00 PM MST. The Wheelers aim to clinch the series, while the Raptors hope to earn the split. Catch the finale live on FloSports or at ogden-raptors.com!
