Raptors 905 Split Opening Weekend in Capital City

Raptors 905 (1-1), the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors, fell to the Capital City Go-Go (1-1) 107-125, splitting the NBA G League opening weekend matchup. The 905 were led by Christian Vital putting up game-high 24 points, six rebounds, two assists, and four steals off the bench. Kris Dunn led Capital City with 19 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and a block in the victory.

The two teams opened the ball game trading baskets, with the Raptors 905 taking the five-point advantage going into the second quarter. The Go-Go fought for the lead in the second, outscoring the visitors 28-20 and taking the lead as the first half came to a close.

Up three to open the half, Go-Go quickly found their rhythm going on a 10-2 run to open the third. Capital City continued to build off their momentum, outscoring the visitors 32-24 in the quarter and extending their lead to 11 going into the final frame.

The 905 mounted a comeback bid, putting up 30 points in the final quarter, but were unable to cut into the deficit eventually falling short of victory.

The 905 received complementary scoring from Jeff Dowtin Jr. who added 17 points, five assists, and two steals. Vernon Carey Jr. paced the Go-Go putting up 15 points, 13 rebounds, an assist, a steal, and a block in the match.

The Raptors 905 return to Mississauga for our home opener against the Westchester Knicks, tip-off slated for 7:30 pm. The Go-Go head on the road to take on the Blue Coats Thursday in Delaware, tip off scheduled for 7:00 pm.
