Raptors 905 (1-2), the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors dropped the first matchup of 2023 to the Long Island Nets (3-1) 102-110 Monday evening. The 905 were led by Saben Lee's 22 points, six rebounds, nine assists, and four steals while David Duke Jr. put up 30 points, six rebounds, five assists, and four steals in the Nets' victory.
It was a tale of two quarters in the first half as the 905 opened the ball game on an 18-3 run. The visitors continued to push the pace extending their lead to as many as 22 points in the first, before ending the quarter 37-16. The Nets quickly found their rhythm in the second quarter as they went on to outscore the 905 36-16, bringing the game within one at the break.
The Nets continued to build off their momentum in the second half, continuing to extend the lead to seven going into the final frame. The 905 attempted their comeback bid in the closing 12 minutes but were unable to overcome the deficit as Long Island came away with the win.
The 905 received complementary scoring from Reggie Perry (23 points, seven rebounds) and Ron Harper Jr. (20 points, 10 rebounds). The Nets were paced by Kavion Pippen's 10 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocks.
The two teams meet again to complete their season series Wednesday, tip-off scheduled for 7:00 pm.
