Rapoza Returns to Thunder
February 19, 2009 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Wichita Thunder News Release
WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder announced several player moves Thursday, including the acquisition of veteran defenseman Bobby Rapoza and goaltender John Daigneau.
Rapoza is in his second tour of duty with the Thunder, scoring 13 points in 20 games with Wichita during the 2002-03 season. Rapoza, who has appeared in 763 career games, started the season in Corpus Christi where he was a teammate of Thunder center Mike Zbriger.
Daignuea, a third-year pro, split time in the ECHL last season with Idaho and Pensacola, appearing in nine games. Daigneau made his professional debut in 2006-07, helping the Idaho Steelheads to an ECHL championship. The 26-year old played four years at Harvard University and still ranks in the top-ten in several goaltending categories.
The moves come after Head Coach Brent Bilodeau announced that Tim Boron (lower body) and Greg Cassista (knee) would be placed on the Season-Ending IR.
Stan Yanchishyn is eligible to return from the 14-Day IR on Friday, and is expected to play this weekend at Mississippi. Scott Rozendal, who is also on the 14-Day IR due to a punctured lung suffered during practice, has not yet been cleared to play but is expected to return this season.
The Thunder continue action Friday and Saturday at Mississippi. Both games begin at 7:05 p.m. Wichita returns home on Wednesday, February 25th when they host the Tulsa Oilers at 7:05 p.m. For tickets, call the Thunder office at (316) 264-GOAL.
