RiverKings Ice Goes Pink

Mississippi RiverKings News Release

(Southaven, MS) -- In preparation for this weekend's schedule of Central Hockey League games, which includes the Saturday "Pink at the Rink" night for cancer and breast cancer awareness, the DeSoto Civic Center ice "goes pink" tonight.

Beginning at 10 PM this evening, DCC arena employees will begin the process of providing a "pink hue" to the ice. After a "dry cut" that reduces the ice thickness to just above the logos and line level, the pink coloring will be applied to the ice, followed by the water being re-applied and re-frozen to playing thickness.

Media are welcome to come and cover this event. Please come through the back truck entrance of the DeSoto Civic Center. The actual process should take about an hour.

The Mississippi RiverKings are currently riding a nine-game non-loss streak (7-0-2) and are in first place in the CHL Northeast Division, second overall in the Northern Conference. The RiverKings host Wichita for a pair of games this weekend, Friday night, February 20th, and Saturday night, February 21st. Both games start at 7:05 PM.

Friday's presenting sponsor on Le Bonheur "Locks of Love" Night is Wilson Perry Salon and Day Spa. Saturday's presenting sponsors are Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto and Thompson Dunavant PLC. The Kooky Canuck in Memphis is also having the first of the Kookamonga Challenge seven-pound hamburger-eating contests.
