(NASHUA, NH) Thursday, July 17, 2008 - The Ottawa Rapidz were one home run short of the Can-Am League record, hitting five for the night and they out scored the Nashua Pride 9-4 in the first game of the four-game series. The Rapidz are now 2-2 in the second half.

The Rapidz got on board in the first inning once again courtesy of their hot-hitting duo of Jereme Milons and Jabe Bergeron. After two outs Milons singled before Bergeron hit a mammoth shot well over the centre field wall for his fifth home run of the season.

The Pride retaliated in the bottom of that same inning taking a 3-2 lead. The first three batters reached base and Vinny Pennell scored on a passed ball. After two outs Dennis Abreu cleared the bases with his third triple of the season. They added one run in the fourth inning on Vinny Pennell's single.

Ottawa cut the lead in the fifth inning on Pete Pirman's solo shot, his second of the year. They took an 8-4 lead in the sixth sending nine batters to the plate. Juan Infante scored on a passed ball then Bergeron collected his second long ball of the game when his line drive tipped off Abreu's glove and bounced over the left field wall. Kyle Geiger added a two-run shot and Nate Hall produced the first run of his professional baseball career. Pete Pirman imitated his teammate Bergeron when he added his second home run of the night in the eighth inning.

Adam Hawes (3-6) got the win for the Rapidz allowing four earned runs on nine hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out four batters. Lance Stevens (4-4) took the loss allowing six earned runs on six hits in 5.2 innings. He also struck out two batters. Reid Price held the Pride to one hit in three scoreless innings to collect his first save as a Rapidz.

Before the game the Rapidz announced the signing of rookie catcher Mike Muscato. A native of Phoenix, AZ, Muscato is a graduate of Nicholls State University. He played with the Charlotte County Redfish in 2007 his first professional season. In 55 games, the right-handed batter collected 46 hits in 155 at-bats, for a .305 batting average. He added one home run and 20 runs batted in, along with five stolen bases. Before signing as a free agent with the Rapidz, Muscato was part of the Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League without playing a single game. He also played one game with the Brockton Rox (Can-Am League) collecting two hits in three at-bats with one run scored and one run batted in. He is 6'1" and 205 pounds.
