
Rapidz mount comeback

(OTTAWA, ON) June 26, 2008 - The Ottawa Rapidz were able to even the series at two against the Sussex Skyhawks, as they produced an exciting come-from-behind win to defeat the Skyhawks 5-3.
The Skyhawks did not waste much time to get on board, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning against Mike Kusiewicz. Their first four batters got on base, with RF Jorge Moreno and DH Walter Young producing the runs.
The Rapidz came back in the game in the second inning, when hot-hitting Jared Lemieux delivered a double, scoring Pete Pirman. They added another run in the fourth when Felix Escalona scored on a two-out single by Jose de los Santos. Ottawa continued to put pressure on the Skyhawks and took a 4-3 lead in the fifth. Kyle Geiger hit a single and Lemieux earned a walk with the bases loaded, got a RBI each. The Rapidz extended their lead to 5-3 in the sixth on Jabe Bergeron's single.
Activated from the disabled list before the game, Kusiewicz (1-5) earned his first win of the season for the Rapidz. In six innings he gave up three earned runs, on 10 hits and one walk, striking out three. Noel Baca III followed, shutting down Sussex in two innings. Angelo Burrows was perfect in the ninth, saving a team-leading third game. Craig Snipp (2-2) took the lost for the Skyhawks.
The Rapidz have an off day on Friday, before playing host to the Brockton Rox for a three-game series starting on Saturday night, at 7:05pm. Rolando Viera (1-4) for the Rox will square off against Orlando Trias (1-4). Y101 presents the Ottawa Rapidz Country Night, featuring a pre-game concert by Ambush. Admission to the concert is free with a game day ticket for Saturday's game.
