DENVER, CO (03-01-05); The Colorado Rapids announced today the team's first exhibition game of the year against a Major League Soccer opponent. The Black and Blue will face the Chicago Fire on Saturday, March 12th at 6:30 p.m. (MT) at Hoover High School in Hoover, Alabama.

The Rapids, who recently finished three successful weeks of spring training in Ecuador and Florida, have faced two professional international teams (Emelec from Ecuador and FC Dornach of Switzerland) and a college one (Florida International University), compiling a 2-1-1 record.

The Chicago Fire, on the other hand, have already played three MLS foes during their spring training in Florida. The Fire suited up against FC Dallas, the San Jose Earthquakes, and the Kansas City Wizards, accumulating a 1-1-1 record.

The Rapids will take on Real Salt Lake in what will be a preview of the clubs' planned annual Cup Competition on Saturday March 19, at Dyees Stadium in Houston, Texas. This game was originally scheduled to be played in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A week later on Saturday, March 26, the Rapids are slated to compete against FC Dallas at Reagan HS/Nelson Field in Austin, Texas, before returning to Denver, CO for the final week of preparation before the team's 2005 MLS Regular Season Opener on Saturday, April 2nd against Kansas City at Arrowhead Stadium.
