Colorado Rapids News Release
DENVER, CO (03-01-05)- The Colorado Rapids announced the virtual unveiling of the team's new designs of their home and away uniforms for the 2005 Major League Soccer Season that will take place today at 11:00 a.m. (MT) on ColoradoRapids.com. The new kits by the team's official uniform supplier, adidas, will be worn by the club in a regular season match for the first time on April 2, 2005, in the Rapids' season opener at Arrowhead Stadium vs. the Kansas City Wizards.

With the home uniforms, adidas and the Rapids took steps to incorporate the Rapids' traditional color scheme of Black and Blue into the design, while also updating the look to a more modern design seen in adidas-sponsored teams the world over.
The Rapids will continue to have mostly white away kits, with some slight design changes from the '04 season. The new adidas kits incorporate a new design on the chest and introduce a bit more color into the away jerseys and shorts.
The new adidas uniforms are lightweight and breathable, with mesh underarm panels and a unique system designed to whisk away sweat.
"Adidas has always made a quality product that has always been designed specifically for soccer players," said Rapids Team Captain Pablo Mastroeni. "Once you wear adidas products, even the training gear, you can tell the difference from other brands and how much more superior the quality is."
"Is a great change for the overall look of the team, the uniforms are going to look sharper, but also more importantly for the players, they are going to be more comfortable and more desirable to wear," Mastroeni added. "I've been wearing adidas for many years now, and they always have done an excellent job to cater to the player's needs. Even thought they have reached to other sports, the brand has always focused more on soccer and the specific needs of our game so that when you wear their products, you can be comfortable enough to perform at the highest level."
The new kits are expected to be in stores by April 1st, 2005. In the meantime, fans can get some great discounts on last year's Rapids gear by visiting the official Rapids team store at the Pepsi Center to get 2-for-1 discounts on all of last year's Atletica gear. Fans can call the Rapids Team Store at (303) 405-1304 to take advantage of these special savings.
