Colorado Rapids News Release
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Friday, February 18, 2011) - Today Major League Soccer and FOX Soccer announced that they have extended the network's national broadcast rights agreement for one year. FOX Soccer has been a League partner since 2003.
The premier soccer-only channel in North America will broadcast up to 31 MLS regular-season games - including seven Colorado Rapids matches - plus three exclusive MLS Cup Playoff matches including a Conference Final, all in high definition. The package includes 15 matches on Saturday nights and 14 on Friday nights; 20 of those 31 broadcast windows are exclusive to FOX Soccer.
The FOX Soccer schedule this season begins with the MLS Cup Champion Rapids hosting the Portland Timbers in the expansion club's inaugural MLS match on March 19 at 7 pm at Dick's Sporting Goods Park as part of First Kick presented by Dick's Sporting Goods.
Colorado road games at FC Dallas and Philadelphia in April and July, respectively, and the home match versus Columbus in August, were originally scheduled for Saturdays but have been moved a day earlier to accommodate the national TV schedule.
In addition to the seven FOX Soccer broadcasts, it was announced earlier that ESPN2 and Galavision will each broadcast two Rapids games nationally. ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes will air the Rapids' home games versus Houston on July 3 and against Real Salt Lake October 14, while Galavision will carry the team's home game versus D.C. United on April 3 and the match at Portland on June 11. Colorado's regional TV schedule will be announced at a future date.
The Rapids also announced today that single game tickets for the first eight Rapids home games during the 2011 season at Dick's Sporting Goods Park will go on sale tomorrow Saturday, February 19 at 10 am MT. Single game tickets for matches 9-17 will go on sale at a later date.
Rapids single game tickets will be available for purchase at the Dick's Sporting Goods Park Box Office, via phone by calling 303-53-HORSE, at the kiosks at any Colorado Dick's Sporting Goods location, or online at TicketHorse.com.
Single game tickets start at just $22 for all Rapids home games. Information on all ticket prices can be found on the team's official website. Season ticket packages are still available at ColoradoRapids.com or by calling (303) 825-GOAL.
