Chester, Pa. (February 18, 2011) - Philadelphia Union today announced that midfielder Andrew Jacobson has been traded to FC Dallas in exchange for Dallas' 2nd round pick of the 2013 Major League Soccer SuperDraft. Jacobson, a Union original, was acquired by Philadelphia on November 25, 2009 in that year's Expansion Draft. Per Major League Soccer and club policy, terms of the trade will not be disclosed.

Jacobson came to Philadelphia from D.C. United and started in the Union's first-ever match at Seattle Sounders FC on March 25, 2010. In total, the midfielder started 13 of 25 games with the Union, logging 1,294 minutes.

After graduating from Cal in 2008, the Palo Alto, Calif. native was drafted by D.C. United but decided to join Lorient of France's Ligue 1 instead. In 2009, the midfielder returned to the U.S. and rejoined D.C. United, making 17 appearances in 845 minutes. He notched one goal in a 2-1 win over the Harrisburg City Islanders in the U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinals.
