Rangers Topple Knights in Overtime

After facing their Highway 7 rivals and coming away with the victory, the Kitchener Rangers headed down the 401 to face off with The London Knights. The Rangers were looking to continue their hot streak against the Knights, as they have won the last three meetings between the two teams.

Five minutes into the game, Joseph Serpa took a hooking penalty giving London an opportunity on the powerplay. The penalty killers were able to kill it off and keep the game scoreless. The Rangers broke out on a 2-on-1 and Joseph Serpa snapped a shot past London's goaltender, making it 1-0. Both teams exchanged powerplay chances but neither could capitalize on them. Jackson Parsons made a handful of saves on the penalty kill to keep the Rangers in the lead.

London scored off a lucky bounce five seconds into the 2nd period to tie the game 1-1. London added another goal midway through the 2nd, to give them the 2-1 lead. Late in the period, Mitchell Martin scored his 17th goal of the season on the powerplay to tie the game 2-2. Jackson Parsons continued his stellar play throughout the period.

Midway through the period, Adam Zidlicky scored regain the lead and make it 3-2. Just after the play, Navrin Mutter took a penalty and London responded on the powerplay, tying it at 3-3. Regulation solved nothing in this contest so overtime was needed. This was the second time London and Kitchener went to overtime this season.

Joseph Serpa scored his second of the game off an interception from Reid Valade to win the game 4-3. We're back in action at The Aud Sunday, March 27th at 2:00 p.m. against The Flint Firebirds.
