Rangers Look to Continue Rolling in Mississauga

Mississauga, ON - Heading into Saturday's game against the Mississauga Steelheads the Rangers look to keep their four-game win streak alive. Puck drop is set for 4 pm at The Paramount Fine Foods Centre.

Head-to-Head:

In eight regular-season games dating back to the 2017-18 season, the Rangers own the overall advantage of 5-2-1-0 and when in Mississauga the Rangers are 3-0-1-0. The Rangers and Mississauga met in the preseason for a home-and-home series. The Rangers won both games, the score was 6-5 in Mississauga and 2-1 in a shootout at The Aud. Matheas Stark recorded four goals in Steelheads' territory to help lead them to victory. The next day in Kitchener, Matthew Sop scored for the Rangers and also sealed the deal with the shootout winner.

Mississauga enters this game as one of the league's top teams with an 8-2-0-0 record through the first ten games and owns the league's best win percentage at .800 to start the season. The Steelheads last played in North Bay on Thursday night, they had a third period come back to win the game 7-6. Former Ranger Adam Zidlicky scored the game-winning goal.

The Rangers are also off to a hot start to the season with a 7-2-0-0 record. They trail right behind Mississauga in second in the league standings. The Rangers are coming off a 5-3 win against Owen Sound last night to make that four wins in a row for the Rangers.

The Rangers' special teams also follow closely behind the Steelheads. The Rangers' power play sits fourth in the league at 27.3% while the Steelheads are ranked third with a power play of 29.2%. Mississauga sits ninth in the league for a penalty kill percentage of 82.7%, Rangers are

12th with an 80.0% penalty kill.

Scouting the Rangers:

Kitchener's offense has been a force to be reckoned with as the team has averaged 7.75 goals a game over the last four. Defenceman, Hunter Brzustewicz (Vancouver) has collected 19 points (5G, 14A) in an eight-game point streak. Brzustewicz is currently first in points and assists in the league. Last night against Owen Sound he had tallied three points with one goal and two assists.

Rehkopf (Seattle) has a five-game point streak with 14 points (8G, 6A) for a total of 18 points on the season (10G, 8A). Rehkopf follows second behind Brzutstewicz on the OHL leaderboard. Adrian Misaljevic has also been a key attack for the Rangers' as he is third on the OHL leaderboard with 17 points (9G, 8A). Misaljevic recorded an assist in last night's match to continue his point streak to five games.

Veterans Mitchell Martin and Sop also have point streaks going over the last four games. Martin has recorded seven points with three goals and four assists. Sop has put up 12 points with five goals and seven assists most notably he had a three-point night (2G, 1A) against Owen Sound last night.

Scouting the Steelheads:

In Mississauga's last game, Porter Martone scored a hat trick and tallied an assist on the side for a four-point night. Martone sits 10th amongst forwards in the league for points with 12 (6G, 6A). Steelheads first-year defenceman Jakub Fibigr tallied three assists in North Bay. He ranks fifth for the Steelheads in points with 11 (2G, 9A).

Luke Misa trails behind three Rangers for fourth in points in the OHL with 17 (6G, 11A). Over the past four games, Misa has put up 11 points with three goals and eight assists.

Between the pipes, Ryerson Leenders is currently one of the league's top goaltenders. Leenders has a .926 save percentage and averaging 2.51 goals against a game.

Angus MacDonell (Dallas) is the only skater drafted for the Steelheads. Mississauga has 10 skaters eligible for the upcoming 2024 NHL Draft.

Broadcast Coverage:

Saturday's game will be televised live across the province of Ontario on the Super Sports Pack on channel 470 for cable subscribers. The game will not be televised on Rogers TV, cable 20. The game will be streamed live online in a web browser on OHLLIVE.com, and on the CHL App for mobile devices including smart TV's such as Apple TV, Roku and Amazon Fire.

Additionally, the game will be broadcast on the radio in Kitchener and the Waterloo Region on CityNews 570 AM CKGL Mike Farwell (play-by-play) and Paul Fixter (colour commentary) will be on the call. Fans can tune in to the radio pregame show 30 minutes prior to puck drop.

The Rangers have another busy week of games. The East Avenue Blue are back at The Aud on Tuesday against the Sarnia Sting followed by more Friday Night Hockey at The Aud against the Erie Otters, both puck drops are set for 7 pm.
