Rangers hold off Wolves

Kitchener, ON: Matt Auffrey scored a goal and added an assist to lead the Rangers to a 2-1 win this afternoon over the Sudbury Wolves at The Aud.

Justin Azevedo opened the scoring in the first period with his 13th goal on the year at 8:03.

Matt Auffrey found the score sheet in the third period with his 12th goal of the season at 10:59 to give the Rangers a 2-0 lead. Keaton Turkiewicz replied with a power play goal for the Wolves at 11:44 to cut the Rangers lead to 2-1.

Mark Packwood picked up his 3rd win of the season stopping 31 shots to improve to 3-2-0.

The Rangers next home game is Tuesday, January 3rd against the London Knights. Game time is 7:00 p.m. The Kitchener Rangers Hockey Club will host staff from R.O.O.F. (Reaching our Outdoor Friends) at the Tuesday Kitchener-London game providing fans the opportunity to donate cash, clothing and hygiene items. ROOF's home was gutted by fire last Wednesday.

Game Notes: Matt Auffrey was the game's 1st star after collecting a goal and an assist...Mark Packwood was the 2nd star of the game...the Wolves were 1/9 on the power play...the Rangers were 2/7 on the power play...the Rangers outshot the Wolves 38-32...5,776 fans attended the game.
