Kitchener Rangers News Release
The Kitchener Rangers headed down to Progressive Auto Sales Arena for the first time this season to face the Sarnia Sting. The Rangers were looking to build off their win over Owen Sound on Friday night.
Carson Rehkopf would open the scoring for the Rangers, keeping his hot streak going after coming back from the Capital City Challenge. Declan McDonnell would extend our lead to 2-0 midway through the period. 42 seconds later, Matthew Sop was on the finishing end of a beautiful passing play to make it 3-0. McDonnell scored his second of the period, making it 4-0. Francesco Pinelli joined in and scored his 7th of the season. We would take a 5-0 lead into the second period.
Five minutes into the second, Sarnia would get a goal back to make it 5-1. Sarnia took a 4-minute high sticking penalty but we were unable to capitalize. Mike Petizian would take a penalty to negate the last few minutes of the double minor. The penalities continued for both teams, but the score remained 5-1 at the end of the period.
Sarnia's MacDonell scored 6 minutes into the third period to cut the lead to 5-2. They would add another late in the period to make it 5-3.
We would win this contest by a final score of 5-3.
Our next home game is our 26th Annual Teddy Bear Toss game on Tuesday, December 7th at 7:00 p.m. vs. London.
The Rangers ask you to bring a NEW teddy bear to the game. Immediately following the Rangers first goal, throw your bear onto the ice surface! Bears will then be collected & turned over to local charitable organizations just in time for Christmas.
