Rangers Face-Off vs. IceDogs in Niagara Saturday

St. Catharines, Ont. - After posting a 4-3 victory over Guelph on home-ice Friday night, the Blueshirts will travel to St. Catharines to face the Niagara IceDogs Saturday for the second of three games this weekend. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. at the Meridan Centre.

Head-to-Head:

Kitchener is 8-3-1-0 against the IceDogs since the 2015-16 season and are 3-1-1-0 in their last five meetings in Niagara. This year, Kitchener won the first meeting between these two clubs earlier this season at The Aud by a score of 5-1.

Kitchener is coming off a win at home to Guelph Friday and are 5-5-0-0 in their last 10 games. Niagara is 1-12-2-0 since Jan. 1 and has lost four-straight contests heading into Saturday night's game.

Rangers to Watch:

Francesco Pinelli (Los Angeles Kings) continued his hot streak Friday night collecting another three points raising his point total to 15 (8G 7A) on this current eight-game point streak. Pinelli is now up to 58 points (29G 29A) on the season which ranks him at the ninth highest points total in the league.

Defenceman Hunter Brzustewicz added another two assists on Friday bringing his assist total up to 32. That ranks him 24th amongst all skaters in the OHL and sixth most amongst all defencemen.

Marco Costantini was the game's first star the last time these two teams met making 42 of a possible 43 stops in the game. Marco is also coming off a 30 save performance in Kitchener's win over Guelph.

Francesco Arcuri (Dallas Stars), Tomáš Hamara (Ottawa Senators), Filip Mešár (Montréal Canadiens), Francesco Pinelli (Los Angeles Kings), Roman Schmidt (Tampa Bay Lightning) and Danny Zhilkin are six Kitchener skaters that are both drafted, and signed, by their NHL clubs respectively.

Scouting the IceDogs:

Kevin He ranks 14th in rookie scoring this season with 18 points (5G 18A) in 43 games for Niagara this season. The 2006 born left winger is eligible for the 2024 NHL Draft.

Daniel Michaud is the leading points getter on the IceDogs roster this season totalling 34 points (17G 17A) in 41 games. His 17 goals is tied for the team lead with Zakary Lavoie.

David Jesus leads the Niagara blueline this season with 24 points (1G 23A) in 45 games this season. His 23 assists ranks inside the top 20 amongst all defencemen this season.

Niagara have no NHL draftees on the current roster but have eight skaters eligible for the 2023 NHL Draft.

Saturday night's contest will not be televised on Rogers TV, cable 20. The contest can be watched across the province of Ontario on the Super Sports Pack on channel 468 for cable subscribers.
