Rangers Charity Game Vs. Cambridge Ice Hounds and Kitchener Ice Pirates This Thursday
January 5, 2010 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Kitchener Rangers News Release
Thursday, January 7th the Kitchener Rangers will be travelling to Cambridge to play the Cambridge Ice Hounds and the Kitchener Ice Pirates.
The game will take place from 6-8pm at the Galt Arena Gardens. Entry to the event will be in the form of a donation in which all proceeds will go directly to the Cambridge Ice Hounds and the Kitchener Ice Pirates.
The Cambridge Ice Hounds are continuing to grow in Cambridge with two teams this year! In partnership with the City of Cambridge and Special Hockey International, we are providing a hockey program in Cambridge and making the ice time available to children with developmental needs, allowing them to participate in a hockey program just like all other children, including their peers and siblings.
The Kitchener Ice Pirates provide children with developmental needs the opportunity to play a great sport. The team is theirs, the ice is theirs, and there are no limits for them as individuals. Personal growths, and friendship, are just the beginning for these kids.
Special Hockey International has been around since the '70's. Their goal was to provide kids with developmental disabilities to be able to participate in a sport league that they may not normally have the chance to be on. The organizations goal was to provide a family like atmosphere for these kids, and give them a defined sense of belonging and self-worth.
