Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Modesto, CA - The Rancho Cucamonga pulled off their seventh straight road victory on Tuesday night, taking the series-opener against the Modesto Nuts by a 3-2 final at John Thurman Field.
Sauryn Lao had a game-tying double in the sixth and Jake Vogel had the game-winning triple in the ninth to help Rancho improve to 7-0 on their current road trip.
Trailing 2-0 in the sixth, Lao lifted a ball down the right-field line that appeared to have hit the chalk line. The play was originally ruled foul, but was overturned, allowing both Alex DeJesus and Sam McWilliams to score, tying the game at 2-2.
That score held until the ninth, when Vogel ripped a run-scoring triple over the head of left fielder Trent Tingelstad, scoring Wladimir Chalo to make it 3-2 against Modesto reliever Brayan Perez (1-3).
Huei-Sheng Lin (1-0) fired a 1-2-3 ninth to work his third straight scoreless inning and earn his first win of the year.
Robbie Peto gave the Quakes five strong innings in the start, as he allowed two runs, one earned on just three hits in the no-decision.
The Quakes (41-31) will send Jimmy Lewis (0-2) to the mound on Wednesday, as he'll be opposed by Modesto left-hander Adam Macko (2-2) at 7:05pm.
After this current 12-game road trip, the Quakes return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, August 3rd, taking on the Lake Elsinore Storm. Tuesday the 4th will be a Temblores Tuesday, presented by the Art Laboe Show Live. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com.
