The Wolves were the first on the scoreboard as center Nigel Dawes scored a power-play goal 8:40 after the initial puck drop. Paul Postma passed the puck cross-ice to Spencer Machacek at the left faceoff circle who in turn sent a centering feed to Dawes where he flipped the puck over the left leg padding of Rampage goaltender Matt Climie for a 1-0 lead.
The Rampage evened the score at 1-1 as they converted a five-on-three power play when Stafford buried a bullet from the high slot over the blocker of Wolves netminder Peter Mannino 12:08 into the second period. Boedker and Ebbett supplied the assists.
San Antonio took a 2-1 advantage after Ebbett's pass from behind the net found Boedker at the right goal post where he was able to tap the puck into the lower right corner of the net behind Mannino at the 16:50 mark of the second period. MacLean added the second helper.
The Rampage extended their lead to 3-1 as MacLean and Stafford assisted on Boedker's second goal of the night. Boedker received the puck in the slot from the right faceoff circle and snapped a shot that flew over Mannino's right shoulder 3:58 into the third period.
With 59 seconds remaining in the contest, Chicago Head coach Don Lever pulled Mannino in favor of a sixth attacker. However, the Rampage seized the opportunity as MacLean scored on the empty net to finalize the San Antonio victory at 4-1. David Brine assisted on the play to earn his 100th AHL point.
Climie finished the night with 37 saves on 38 Wolves shot attempts while Mannino stopped 18 of 21 Rampage shots on net.
