San Antonio Rampage News Release
CEDAR PARK, Texas- Thanks to a late game-tying goal from Rocco Grimaldi, Brendan Ranford and the San Antonio Rampage (23-32-4-1) outlasted the Texas Stars (27-29-1-3) 2-1 in shootout fashion on Monday night at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.
After a scoreless opening period, the Stars registered the lone goal of the middle frame when Mark McNeill redirected a shot from Julius Honka at the 7:30 mark. After 40 minutes of play, Texas took a 1-0 lead into the second intermission.
The Stars held onto their one-goal lead until 16:03 of the third period, when Grimaldi tallied a power-play goal from Colin Smith and Ranford. Grimladi's game-tying goal forced the contest into overtime and ultimately the third shootout of the season. Rampage netminder Spencer Martin shut down all three Stars attempts, while Ranford landed the game winner in the third round of the shootout.
