Rampage Lead AHL with 3-1 Win in Peoria

PEORIA, Illinois (November 17, 2010)- The San Antonio Rampage won their fifth straight and lead the AHL with 27 points defeating the Peoria Rivermen 3-1 in front of 5, 117 fans Wednesday morning at Carver Arena. Rampage netminder Al Montoya stopped 34 of 35 shots to win his third consecutive game.

Ryan Hollweg scored on the Rampage's first shot of the game at the 7:37 mark of the opening period with a blast from the left faceoff circle that beat 6-foot-7 Peoria goalie Ben Bishop high glove side.

With 1:16 remaining in the first frame, Peoria center Phil McRae scored from the bottom right circle when he lifted the puck over Al Montoya's glove to tie the score at 1-1.

Rivermen forward Stefan Della Rovere lit the lamp with 9:19 remaining in the second period but the goal was immediately waived off because of a dislodged net and the score remained tied at 1-1. The Rivermen controlled the majority of the second period outshooting the Rampage 16-6.

The Rampage reclaimed the lead off defenseman Maxim Goncharov's goal 5:31 into the third period for a 2-1 game. Goncharov snapped a wrist shot from the high slot beating Bishop blocker side. David Brine recorded his second assist of the day while Eric Neilson earned his first point of the season with the additional helper.

With one minute remaining in the game, Peoria head coach Jared Bednar pulled Bishop in favor of a sixth attacker. Rampage right wing Brett MacLean took advantage of the open net and scored with four seconds remaining in regulation to finalize the San Antonio victory at 3-1. MacLean's 59th career Rampage goal puts him within one of tying all-time franchise goal leader Joel Perrault (60).

The Rampage return home on Friday to face the Milwaukee Admirals at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center. Friday night is a KISS Rocks Dollar Drink Night in which fans can get $1 draft beer and fountain soda.
