SPRINGFIELD, Mass - Tomas Kubalik scored two goals along with two assists, including the game-winning goal early in the third period, as the Springfield Falcons defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers by a score of 4-3 at the MassMutual Center in Springfield on Tuesday night. The Falcons improve to 9-6-0-1 overall with the win. The loss drops the Sound Tigers record to 6-10-0-0.

The Sound Tigers broke through on the scoresheet with two power play goals early in the first period. Brett Motherwell scored his first goal of the season on a slap shot from the point that beat Springfield goaltender David LeNeveu to put the Sound Tigers ahead 1-0 just 5:10 into the game. 2:16 later the visitors scored again on the power play on a gorgeous deflection in front. Micheal Haley skated into the zone and softly slid the puck in front to a streaking Robin =46igren, who tipped the puck past LeNeveu for his team-leading fifth goal of the season to put the Sound Tigers ahead 2-0.

Springfield would respond with goals from Matt Calvert and Ben Guite, the latter of which was scored with just nine seconds remaining in the first period, and after 20 minutes the Sound Tigers and Falcons were tied at two. The Sound Tigers regained the lead once more 2:27 into the second period. Rhett Rakhshani dropped the puck back for Anton Klementyev who had time and space above the right faceoff circle of the Springfield zone. The second-year defenseman fired a shot on net that was deflected by forward Tony Romano for his fourth goal of the season to give the Sound Tigers a 3-2 lead.

Kubalik scored his first goal of the night to tie the game at three. With the Falcons on the power play, a shot from the point was knocked down in front and bounced around for a few seconds before being controlled by the Falcons. The puck found Kubalik's stick and the forward lifted the it over Sound Tigers goaltender Mikko Koskinen to even the score at three midway through the second period.

The score remained tied heading into the third period, but Kubalik would strike again. Less than three minutes into the third period, Michael Ryan intercepted a Rhett Rakhshani clearing attempt and lifted the pick to Kubalik who was camped in front of the net. Kubalik turned and shot the puck past Koskinen for his second goal of the night and the eventual game-winner as Springfield held on for a 4-3 win.

Koskinen made 21 saves in the losing effort after earning the win on Saturday against Norfolk. David LeNeveu made just 12 saves to earn the win for Springfield.

The Sound Tigers return to action on Friday night when they travel to Providence to face the Bruins at the Dunkin Donuts Center. Gametime is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
