San Antonio - Veteran Bryan Helmer tallied his first goal of the season to prevent a shutout as the Rampage fell to the Chicago Wolves 6-1 Wednesday night at the AT&T Center.

Chicago's Darren Haydar had a four-point night with two goals and two assists and scored the Wolves' first goal, a power-play goal, in the opening period to jump on the board 1-0. Haydar is now tied for the AHL lead with nine points on the season.

The Wolves dominated the second period outscoring the Rampage 4-1 with two power-play goals and outshooting them 19-6.

Helmer had help from Yanick Lehoux and Bill Thomas with the one-man advantage to score San Antonio's lone goal at the 7:09 mark three minutes after Chicago's Jimmy Sharrow extended the Wolves' lead to 2-0.

With the Rampage down 2-1 halfway through the second period, the Wolves scored three consecutive goals by Haydar, Brett Sterling and Brian Fahey to end the period with a 5-1 advantage.

Rampage goaltender David LeNeveu stepped in to relieve Philippe Sauve who had 29 saves through two periods to start the closing period. LeNeveu allowed only one goal to Jason Krog assuring Chicago goaltender Fred Brathwaite his first victory of the season.

The Rampage, now 2-4-0-0, host the Wolves once more on Friday at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center.
