San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO- Ben Street's power-play goal with 4:50 left in regulation snapped a 2-2 tie and helped the Grand Rapids Griffins (36-16-1-2) to a 4-2 win over the San Antonio Rampage (21-30-4-1) in the team's 14th annual Military Appreciation Night at the AT&T Center.
Forward Brendan Ranford recorded one goal and one assist in his Rampage debut, earning the Third Star of the Game. Forward Rocco Grimaldi registered his ninth multiple-point game of the season with a goal and an assist, while Colin Smith tallied an assist in his first game back with the Silver and Black.
The Griffins opened the scoring with a pair of first-period goals from Robbie Russo and Matt Lorito at 9:05 and 18:35, respectively, to take a 2-0 lead to the locker room after 20 minutes.
San Antonio responded early in the second when Grimaldi scored his team-leading 22nd of the year when he deposited Chris Bigras' rebound past Griffins goalie Cal Heeter on the power play at 5:40. Ranford later tied the game at 13:11 slipping Smith's pass though Heeter to knot the score at two.
Street collected the game-winning goal late in regulation when Eric Tangradi set up the former Rampage captain and now Grand Rapids center at the 15:10 mark of the third period. Matthew Ford sealed the win for the Griffins with an empty-net goal with 25.9 seconds remaining.
