Moose More Than Hogs Can Muster, Prevail 5-3
March 4, 2017 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill. - The Rockford IceHogs scored three goals in five minutes during the third period, but the late rally wasn't enough in a 5-3 loss to the Manitoba Moose Friday night at the BMO Harris Bank Center.
Kyle Baun, Luke Johnson and Tyler Motte each scored to turn a 4-0 deficit into a one-goal game in the third period. However, Manitoba's JC Lipon potted an empty-netter at the 18:30 mark to seal the Moose's win.
Manitoba took the lead just 11 seconds into the game when Kyle Connor beat IceHogs goaltender Mac Carruth on a loose puck in front of the net.
Connor notched his second goal of the night one period later to spark a three-goal outburst for the Moose. Scott Kosmachuk followed at 2:38 into the frame and Quinton Howden scored what proved to be the game-winner at 3:36.
Lars Johansson then relieved Carruth in net and stopped each of the 18 shots he faced.
Next Home Game: Saturday, March 3 at 7p.m. vs. Iowa Wild. The IceHogs host the Wild on Autism Awareness Night. Fans can purchase mystery pucks and bid on player baskets filled with a variety of their favorite items, including hats, clothing, gift cards, food, drinks and signed memorabilia with proceeds benefitting Autism Program of Easterseals. The first 1,500 fans to enter the BMO Harris Bank Center will receive a set of coasters (four) compliments of The Autism Program of Easterseals.
