San Antonio Rampage News Release
ROCKFORD, IL (Feb. 15, 2015) - The San Antonio Rampage (28-18-4-0) couldn't overcome a one-goal deficit and fell to the Rockford IceHogs (29-16-4-2) in front of 4,864 at BMO Harris Bank Center Sunday afternoon. With their third loss to the IceHoge this season, the Rampage wrap up a three-in-three weekend going 1-2-0-0 and posting a record of 1-2-0-0 on this year's Rodeo Road Trip so far.
The IceHogs got on the board early in the first period, as Peter Regin fed a pass to Brandon Mashinter in the slot and he wristed the puck past Dan Ellis. Rockford took a 1-0 lead going into the first intermission, the third straight game the Rampage have trailed by one after the first 20 minutes of play.
Connor Brickley tied the game at one, flipping the puck past Scott Darling at 6:42 of the middle frame for his 17th tally of the season and the lone goal scored in the second period.
Cody Bass gave Rockford a 2-1 lead and the eventual game-winner at 9:53 of the final frame with his second goal of the season.
Ellis stopped 29-of-31 shots and Darling turned away all but one of the Rampage's 30 shots.
KEY STAT
Brickley now has three goals in two games for San Antonio and leads the league in rookie scoring. Greg Zanon, with the secondary assist on Brickley's equalizer, has three points in as many games this weekend.
The Rampage's two total penalty minutes in today's game was the fewest of any game this season.
LINEUP NOTES
Logan Shaw drew back into the Rampage lineup, skating on the third line with John McFarland and Vincent Trocheck. Sunday marked the first time this season that defensemen Mackenzie Weegar, Josh McFadden and Shayne Taker have all played in the same game. With Jesse Blacker out due to a minor upper-body injury, Blake Parlett paired with Greg Zanon as the first defensive pair. Andrew Yogan was a healthy scratch.
