San Antonio Rampage News Release

CHARLOTTE (March 5, 2015) - The San Antonio Rampage (32-19-5-1) split back-to-back decisions with the Charlotte Checkers (22-30-5-1) with a 5-2 win in front of 4,056 at Time Warner Cable Arena Thursday night. The Rampage are now 5-1-0-1 against the Checkers this season, and posted a record of 5-4-1-1 on this year's Rodeo Road Trip, wrapping up 11 straight games on the road. This is the Rampage's fourth consecutive winning road trip and seventh in franchise history.

Corban Knight handed the Rampage an early lead just 43 seconds into the game. Just a little over five minutes later, the Checkers tied the game at one when Trevor Carrick jammed the puck past Michael Houser, who was unable to cover the rebound for the goal. Zach Boychuck gave the Checkers their first lead with a wrister at 14:48, and Charlotte took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

John McFarland picked up his own rebound and sent the puck past John Muse to tie the game at two five minutes into the second period. With 23.8 second left in the second period, Logan Shaw flipped the puck over Muse's outstretched pads to make it 3-2 at the end of 40 minutes.

Rocco Grimaldi gave the Rampage a two-goal lead at 8:24 of the final period, and Bobby Butler scored an empty-net goal to seal a 5-2 Rampage win.

Houser made 25 saves on 27 shots, and Muse stopped all but three of the Rampage's 32 shots.
