
Pirates Assign Carey, Lee to Gwinnett

Saco, ME - The Portland Pirates today announced that they reassigned forward Greg Carey and goalie Mike Lee to their ECHL affiliate, the Gwinnett Gladiators.
Carey, a 6-foot, 195 pound left wing from Hamilton, Ontario, has played 29 games for Portland this season, scoring two goals and four assists for six points. He also has registered 18 penalty minutes.
The 24 year-old has also played 14 games for Gwinnett this season, with 10 goals and seven assists for 17 points and a plus-5 rating.
Signed to a one-year entry level contract by the Arizona Coyotes in March, 2014, Carey began his pro career by scoring 1-1-2 in 13 games with Portland at the end of the 2013-14 season. Prior to turning pro, Carey played four seasons of NCAA Division I Men's Hockey for the St. Lawrence University Saints and was named a Hobey Baker Award finalists in his junior and senior years.
Lee, a 6-foot-1, 195 pound goalie from Roseau, Minnesota, has played two games for Portland this season, posting a 0-1-0 record, a 3.41 goals against average, and a 0.848 save percentage.
The 24 year-old has played five games for Gwinnett this season, going 1-3-1 with a 2.98 goals against average, and a 0.897 save percentage.
In his third professional season, Lee was selected in the 3rd Round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Arizona Coyotes.
Both Carey and Lee will report to Gwinnett in time to play for the Gladiators in their next game this Friday night on the road against the South Carolina Stingrays.
The Pirates play three games in three straight days on the road this weekend, facing the Syracuse Crunch from the Onondaga County War Memorial Friday night at 7:00 p.m. Portland then moves on Allentown, Pennsylvania, making their inaugural visit to the PPL Center to face the Lehigh Valley Phantoms at 7:05 p.m. Saturday. The trip concludes at the Giant Center on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. when the Pirates will face the Hershey Bears. Each broadcast begins with the Pirates Pregame Show 20 minutes prior to faceoff.
