Peoria Rivermen News Release

Al Montoya made 31 saves to shut out the Peoria Rivermen while Chris Durno scored twice to pace the offense in a 6-0 Rampage win in San Antonio on Saturday night.

David Spina helped kickstart the first period scoring for the Rampage, setting up the first goal and scoring the second as the Rampage grabbed a 2-0 lead.

The first marker was a tip in front of the Peoria net while the Rampage were on the power play, as Durno sent the puck in front which ended up hitting a Rivermen player and deflecting past Marek Schwarz at 16:31 from Spina and Mike Zigomanis.

Late in the frame, Spina converted on a Rivermen turnover. Matt Murley forced the puck up the wall to Cam Paddock, who fed Spina to make it 2-0 at 19:42 as he pulled the puck to the backhand on Schwarz.

In the middle frame, Jon DiSalvatore rifled a blast from the left point for a power play goal at 11:34 to make it a three goal lead.

Bill Thomas followed by taking a Ryan Caldwell feed and breaking past the Peoria defense to deke Schwarz and score at 16:11.

Peoria tried to generate some offense by pulling the goaltender and adding a sixth attacker during a third period power play, but Murley scored into the empty net for a shorthanded tally at 11:18 to make it 5-0.

Durno wrapped up the scoring with his second of the game at 14:57 for the 6-0 final.

Peoria returns to action next Friday night at 7:07 pm against the Iowa Stars in Des Moines. The Rivermen Pre-Game Show kicks off one half-hour before game time on your Home for Rivermen Hockey, 96.5 ESPN Radio.
