August 21, 2016 - Pioneer League (PL)
Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release
In his first game in close to four month, Roberto Ramos homered and singled in his only two at bats Saturday night at Suplizio Field, but the Grand Junction Rockies lost to the Idaho Falls Chukars 11-3.
Ramos, on a rehab assignment from Class-A Modesto, homered in his first at bat and singled in his second. He played five innings in his first game since April 30 due to a broken hamate bone and knee surgery, but the Chukars were in control most of the night.
After a scoreless first inning, they put up five runs in the second inning against Riley Pint. They only had three hits in the inning, but took advantage of three walks, a hit batter, and an error.
Pint took the loss for the fifth time, allowing five runs in three innings on three hits. He walked a season-high five, and struck out three.
Idaho Falls scored a run against Ethan Westphal in the fourth, but the Rockies scored a pair of unearned runs in the fifth to get within three, but the Chukars scored twice against Carlos Lopez in the sixth, three times against Ryan Luna in the seventh, and added a pair with Reid Humphreys on the mound in the eighth.
Lorenz Ozuna pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
Ramos was the only Rockie to finish with two hits as they fall to 10-8 in the second half.
Manny Olloque collected four hits for Idaho Falls, while David Edwards added three to go with two walks.
Arnaldo Hernandez won for the fifth time this season, surrendering three runs, one earned over five innings with six strikeouts. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
