Jose Gomez finished with four hits, two of them home runs, as the Grand Junction Rockies pulled back into sole possession of first place in the South Division with a 10-6 win over the Idaho Falls Chukars Sunday night at Suplizio Field.

The four hit game is the third for Gomez in the month of August and the multi home run game is the first for the Rockies since September 3, 2015 when Sam Hilliard hit two in Ogden.

Idaho Falls jumped in front when Manny Olloque singled home a run in the first and David Edwards hit a solo homer in the second, but Taylor Snyder got the Rockies on the board with an RBI single in the bottom of that inning, and Cole Anderson tied the game when he started the bottom of the third with his third home run of the season, and the Rockies took the lead for good later in the inning.

Tyler Bugner followed Anderson's home run with a walk and Gomez singled him to third. Vince Fernandez put the Rockies in front with a sacrifice fly and Snyder singled home Gomez to make it 4-2.

Grand Junction added to the lead in the next winning. Steven Leonard doubled to start and he scored when Bugner reached on an infield single with the help on a throwing error on Angelo Castellano. Then Gomez hit his first home run of the night to make it 7-2. The Chukars chipped away with runs in the fifth and sixth, but Gomez hit his second 2-run homer of the night in the bottom of the sixth to make it a 5-run game again.

Edwards hit a 2-run homer of his own in the seventh to make it 9-6, but that was as close as they'd get. Colton Welker singled home a run, after Gomez's fourth hit of the night to make it 10-6.

Yohander Quintana earned his fourth win of the season, surrendering three runs, two earned, in five innings. Heat Holder struck out the side in the eighth while Kenny Oakley worked around a walk in the ninth as the Rockies improve to 11-8 in the second half, 27-30 overall.

With 18 games remaining in the second half, the Rockies are a half game up on Ogden for first place in the South Division.
