Danbury, CT- The Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks completed their weekend series against the New Jersey Titans on Saturday night and put up a spirited effort. Alas, the Jr. Hat Tricks dropped their seventh consecutive game by a final score of 2-1.
Thomas Delfarno ('03) scored his first goal as a Hat Trick and an NAHL player on a power play in the first period to give Danbury a 1-0 lead at the 11:42 mark of the period. Andrew Eberling ('02) and Robert Hyde ('02) recorded assists on the goal. Hyde's was his first assist of the season.
New Jersey answered with a power play goal early in the second period. Maine commit Anthony Calafiore potted the goal to even the score at 1:42 into the frame. The Titan's kept pounding the Hat Tricks net and had a hard time beating Marino Ramirez ('03). The Chicago, IL native stopped 19 of 20 shots in the frame and kept the score at 1-1 into the third period.
Ramirez stopped almost every shot in the third period as well, but the Titans snuck one more shot to get out of Hat City with a victory. Ben Muthersbaugh did the honors at the 10:57 mark and held on for the win. Titan goalie Zakari Brice stopped 23 of 24 shots, including all 8 Hat Tricks shots in the third period to complete a 2-1 victory and a Titans weekend sweep.
Marino Ramirez stopped 45 of 47 shots in his season debut to give the Hat Tricks a shot to win the game.
Danbury has to wait ten days before their next game. That will be Tuesday, October 4th when the Hat Tricks visit the Northeast Generals in Attleboro, MA. Puck drops at 1:30 PM at the New England Sports Village. The next home series for the Hat Tricks is October 7th and 8th against the Maryland Black Bears. Puck drops at 7 PM for both games.
