The Chippewa Steel beat the Anchorage Wolverines on Friday night, winning by a final score of 5-2. The Steel and Anchorage will play each other once more this weekend, Saturday at 4 p.m. AKDT.

The Wolverines were put on their back foot early in the contest, after Chippewa scored twice within the first four minutes of the game. Mason LeBel countered by scoring his first of the season 6:13 into the 1st, but one minute later the Steel regained their two-goal lead when Kade Nielsen scored his fourth of the season. Anchorage wouldn't fend much better in the 2nd, with Chippewa scoring two back-to-back goals to extend their lead to four. In the 3rd period Jackson Reineke would notch his second goal of the season to decrease the scoring gap, but his would be the last goal recorded in the contest, and the Wolverines would lose by a final score of 5-2.

Both teams play Saturday evening in their last meeting of the calendar year. As always, the game is available to watch exclusively on HockeyTV.
