Lexington County Blowfish News Release
FOREST CITY, N.C. -- Lexington County loaded the bases and brought the tying run to the plate with nobody out in the ninth inning but could not muster up the offence to bring the game any closer than a three run ballgame. They fell to the Owls tonight 7-4.
Forest City got off to a fast start in the home half of the first plating three runs, two of which came off the bat of Bradley Haslem (Air Force) on a single in the first.
Lexington County clawed back in the fourth on a sacrifice fly from Adam Yacek (Miami, OH) but went silent until the ninth.
Forest City capitalized on Blowfish errors and walks throughout the ballgame and extended their lead to 7-1 headed into the top of the ninth.
The Blowfish got off to a fast start in the ninth, as Jordan Wren (Georgia Southern), Brett Auckland (Presbyterian), and Yacek started the inning with three consecutive singles. Mason Dodd (Lander) and Sam Brooks (Bethune Cookman) followed up with back to back base hits to plate two.
Forest City went to their pen and right-hander Chaz Miller (Bluefield College) to shut the door on the Blowfish.
Miller would go onto set Reed Gray (Lander) and Kyle Carruthers (UNC Asheville) down on strikes.
After a wild pitch plated another Blowfish run, Miller got Clint Carr (Valdosta State) to fly out to center to finish out the ballgame.
