Raleigh Homers Twice in Extra-Inning Loss

SAN JOSE, CA. - A pair of go-ahead home runs by Cal Raleigh were not enough in the Modesto Nuts 6-5 loss against the San Jose Giants in ten innings at Excite Ballpark on Wednesday afternoon.

Cal Raleigh gave the Nuts (32-45; 2-5) their first lead with a solo home run in the fourth inning. After the Giants (33-44; 3-4) took the lead in the fourth. Eugene Helder tied the game with a RBI double in the fifth. Johnny Adams gave the Nuts the lead back with a two-out single later in the inning.

After a Heliot Ramos sacrifice fly in the sixth tied the game, Raleigh launched his second home run in the top of the eighth. This one was a two-run homer. Ramos tied the game again in the bottom of the eight with a two-run single to send us to extra innings.

After the Nuts did not score in the top of the tenth, Nick Duron (L, 0-1) got the first two outs in the tenth before Brandon Van Horn's heroics. With the winning run at third, Van Horn lifted a fly ball into shallow right. Connor Kopach laid out but could not make the catch to allow the Giants to win in walk-off fashion.

Duron worked two innings with four strikeouts and allowing just one hit. Olbis Parra (W, 4-2) worked the final two innings with four strikeouts allowing just one infield hit.
