New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

Manchester, N.H. - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, today announce that Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Rajai Davis has been assigned to New Hampshire for a rehabilitation assignment beginning with tomorrow's 6:35pm game against the Binghamton Mets.

Davis has collected five hits, including a double and two RBIs, in seven games this season for the Blue Jays and is currently on the disabled list with a sore right ankle. The speedster initially injured the ankle while caught in a rundown against the Minnesota Twins on April 1 and later re-aggravated it against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on April 10.

Originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 38th round of the 2001 draft out of the University of Connecticut- Avery Point, Davis was acquired on November 17, 2010 from the Oakland Athletics in a trade for former Fisher Cats pitchers Danny Farquhar and Trystan Magnuson.

The 30-year-old native of Norwich, CT batted .284 with Oakland last season, stealing 50 bases while legging out 28 doubles, belting five home runs and knocking in 52 RBIs. Playing in his sixth Major League season, Davis is a lifetime .278 hitter with 14 triples and 144 stolen bases in his career.

Davis is the first member of the Blue Jays to make a rehab appearance for the Fisher Cats this season.

The Fisher Cats will take on the Binghamton Mets, Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets, at 6:35pm on Friday, April 22 at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. Fans can enjoy an Atlas Fireworks show following the game. Individual game tickets, season tickets and mini-ticket plans are available now at the Fisher Cats Ticket Office at 1 Line Drive, Manchester, NH 03101, online at www.nhfishercats.com or by calling the Fisher Cats at (603) 641-2005.
