KEIZER, OR - During a drizzly game, the Boise Hawks (Short Season A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies) were defeated 4-1 against the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (Short Season A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants) in a game that was called due to rain in six innings.

The delay was called in the bottom of the sixth inning and after 37 minutes, the game was called to be completed early.

Scoring began for the Volcanoes when Brandon Martorano punched a sacrifice fly into right field that scored Yorlis Rodriguez, putting the Volcanoes ahead at 1-0.

Boise responded with a fourth inning that featured two doubles. Bryant Quijada gathered his third double of the season with one out. After a flyout, Vladimir Dilone cued a bouncing ball down the third base line that scored Quijada and tied it up at 1-1.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Volcanoes jumped ahead with a solo home run from Jeff Houghtby over to right-center. This was Houghtby's fourth home run of the season and gained a 2-1 lead for Salem-Keizer.

The bottom of the sixth inning brought some Salem-Keizer runs, and the rains from the western Oregon sky. Armani Smith jumped the Volcanoes ahead by two with a sacrifice fly to left field. This was Smith's third RBI of the series. With runners at first and second, Colton Harlow entered the ballgame for Boise and gave up a base hit to Yorlis Rodriguez to load the bases, then slinged a wild pitch that scored a run and made it 4-1 Volcanoes.

After the run, the game went into a delay and was called due to the weather conditions.

Game three of the series will be held Thursday night at 6:35 p.m. PT from Volcanoes Stadium.
