Tacoma Rainiers News Release
Tacoma, WA - The Tacoma Rainiers struggled to find their rhythm at the plate or on the mound in an 8-2 loss to Fresno at Cheney Stadium on Friday.
The Grizzlies blistered the Rainiers with all eight runs over the third through the eighth innings en route to their second straight win over Tacoma in as many meetings this season.
Fresno catcher Steve Holm put on a banner performance for the Grizzlies in the outing after going 1-for-2 with a double and four RBI. Second baseman Ramon Vazquez was the offensive star for the Rainiers, notching the team's only extra-base hit, a double, and driving in one run.
Fresno starter Matt Yourkin earned his fourth win of the season after limiting the Rainiers to one run on four hits over five innings of work, while walking two and fanning one.
The loss went to Tacoma starter David Pauley on a night where the right-hander surrendered seven runs, six earned, on nine hits over 6.1 innings of work, with two walks and a pair of strikeouts.
Tacoma looks to rebound when they host the Grizzlies again on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Slated to take the mound for the Rainiers is right-hander Andy Baldwin against Fresno right-hander Matt Kinney.
