TACOMA, Wash. - The Tacoma Rainiers let a late lead slip away and fell to the Tucson Padres 8-7 in extra innings at Cheney Stadium on Sunday.

With the score tied at 7-7, Tucson infielder Logan Forsythe hit a single to center field that scored Mykal Stokes from second for the game-deciding run and ultimately end the Rainiers winning streak at four games.

Tacoma held a one-run lead as late as the eighth inning after battling back from a 6-5 deficit with two runs in the bottom of the frame. Carlos Peguero's sacrifice fly scored Scott Savastano from third to tie the score at 6-6, and Luis Jimenez plated the go-ahead run with single to right field that scored Trayvon Robinson.

The lead would only hold until the top of the ninth, when Tucson catcher Brad Davis scored the equalizer with a single that drove in Jedd Gyorko from second base.

Reliever Scott Patterson was dealt the loss after surrendering the go-ahead run to Forsythe in the 10th. Patterson allowed three hits, two walks and struck out three over 1.2 innings of work out of the bullpen. Starter Forrest Snow allowed six runs on nine hits and struck out seven.

Luis Rodriguez went 0-for-3 with three walks to end his hitting streak at 21 games, currently the second-longest streak recorded by a player in the Pacific Coast League this season.

Following the loss, Rainiers manager Daren Brown remains in a tie for first place with Dan Rohn on Tacoma's all-time managerial wins list. Brown has amassed a 375-366 record since taking over as the manager with the Rainiers in 2007.

The Rainiers (22-28) play the final game of the club's four-game set with Tucson (18-32) at 1:35 p.m. tomorrow, May 28. Right-hander Erasmo Ramirez (1-1, 4.96) is scheduled to start for Tacoma in the series finale against Padres right-hander Kip Wells (1-0, 1.64).
