Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Tuesday's second game of a four-game series between the Pelicans and Winston-Salem Dash has been postponed because of rain at Winston-Salem's BB&T Ballpark. The two clubs will play a pair of seven-inning contests Wednesday beginning with that afternoon's regularly scheduled noon start time.

The Pelicans-Dash rainout marks the third time this season that the Pelicans have had a game washed away due to inclement weather. All three times this year, those contests have been rained out on Tuesdays. Myrtle Beach has gone 3-1 in its two previous doubleheaders this season including a twinbill sweep of the Kinston Indians last Wednesday at BB&T Coastal Field in Myrtle Beach.

For the opener Wednesday afternoon, the Pelicans will send left-hander Robbie Erlin (4-2, 1.62) against Winston-Salem righty Andre Rienzo (1-1, 2.95). Myrtle Beach reliever Kennil Gomez (0-1, 2.70) gets the ball in a spot start nod in game two while the Dash's starter is still to be announced.

The Birds return home following this seven-game road trip to Winston and Wilmington for a six-game homestand against the Salem Red Sox and Wilmington Blue Rocks from May 24-29. Tickets for all Pelicans home games can be purchased by visiting the BB&T Coastal Field Box office, the Tickets page at MyrtleBeachPelicans.com, or by calling (843)918-6000 or (877)918-TIXX.
