Arkansas Travelers News Release
NORTH LITTLE ROCK - The Arkansas Travelers-Tulsa Drillers series will not start until Friday because of a weather postponement Thursday at Dickey-Stephens Park. The announcement was made at 8:20 p.m., after officials waited more than an hour after the scheduled first pitch through intermittent rain and lightning. The tarp was pulled over the field before 5:00 p.m. when sparse showers hit North Little Rock throughout the early evening, but more severe weather threatened led to the game's postponement.
The Travelers (6-12, 34-54) and Drillers (8-9, 46-41) will open up at the scheduled 7:10 p.m. start time Friday but now play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 5:30 p.m. It will be the Travs league-leading eighth twin billing this season. Arkansas is 4-10 in doubleheader games this year. Thursday's starting pitchers will be pushed back to Friday, with Tommy Mendoza (6-4, 3.38 ERA) going for the Travelers against Tulsa's Jhoulys Chacin (7-6, 3.43).
