Rain postpones Card game

July 10, 2006 - Texas League (TL1)
Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

(SPRINGFIELD, Mo.) - A heavy thundershower that fell from about 6:00 until 6:30 Monday evening followed by another hour of steady light rain forced the postponement of the series opener between the Hooks and the Cardinals in Springfield, Missouri. Perhaps just as damaging to play Monday was the fact that lightning accompanied the storm, and right around 6:30 pm a bolt of lightning struck a light pole just outside the Hammons Field complex.

The game will be made up as part of a double-header that has been scheduled for this Wednesday, July 12th. Game one is slated to get under way at 6:10 pm. There has been no change to the schedule for Tuesday - the two clubs will attempt to play the regularly-scheduled game for July 11th at the normal start time of 7:10 pm.

Hooks' manager Dave Clark says Josh Miller (7-6, 3.57) will start Tuesday's game for Corpus Christi. Matt Albers (10-2, 1.98) will now pitch game one of Wednesday's twin bill, while newcomer Chad Reineke (6-5, 2.98 in 17 starts with Salem) will get the call for game two.

Monday's postponement marks the second time this season a game between the Hooks and the Cardinals was called because of rain at Hammons Field. The first occurrence was back on May 6th, and that game was cancelled and not made up since it was the last scheduled meeting between the two teams in the first half of the season.
