Cleburne Railroaders News Release
CLEBURNE, Texas - Jared Mortensen delivered eight scoreless innings, and Blake Grant-Parks won it with a bases-loaded walk in a 3-2, walk-off win against the Sioux Falls Canaries in 10 innings at The Depot on Tuesday night.
In the 10th, Rafael Palmeiro singled - his fourth time reaching base on the night - and Levi Scott did the same. After Cameron Monger struck out trying to bunt the runners over to second and third, John Menken flew out to shallow right. Alex Polston then worked a five-pitch walk, setting Grant-Parks up for the walkoff that snapped Cleburne's season-high five-game losing skid.
With Shawn Blackwell on to close the game out, the Canaries (12-23) rallied to tie it in the 9th. Mike Hart struck out but reached on a wild pitch to begin the inning. After Mitch Glasser singled to put the tying run on base, Jordan Smith laid down a sacrifice bunt to set up Blake Schmit for his game-tying two-run double to left-center.
Cleburne (13-22) jumped on the board with Levi Scott's second homer in as many nights - a solo shot to left-center in the 2nd inning.
The Railroaders extended the lead with an RBI groundout from Trevor Sealey, who plated Grant-Parks after he clubbed a one-out double in the 3rd inning.
Rafael Palmeiro went 1-for-2 with a single and three walks, and Grant-Parks reached five times with two doubles and three walks -- one intentional.
Levi Scott extended his hitting streak to seven games, while Trevor Sealey reached twice more with a single and hit-by-pitch.
The win was Cleburne's second walk-off win this year and first since Opening Night against the Goldeyes.
The Railroaders continue the three-game series with the Canaries on Wednesday night. First pitch time is set for 7:06 p.m. and RHP Josh Hodges will make his first start of the seasons against RHP Dylan Thompson. Good seats are still available and can be purchased at www.railroaderbaseball.com or by calling (817) 945-8705.
