Chicago 7, Gary SouthShore 6- Box Score
Joe Benson hit an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh to give the Chicago Dogs what proved to be the game winning run in a 7-6 win over the Gary SouthShore Railcats on Monday.
The Dogs took a 4-0 lead with a four run bottom of the second that included a solo home run by Michael Falsetti (1) and a two-run double by Ryan Wagner. However, the Railcats would take a 6-4 lead after scoring one in the third and five in the fourth.
The game was tied in the next frame when Chicago's Tony Rosselli (2) hit a solo home run and Jonothan Moroney hit an RBI single.
The game would remain tied until Benson hit a two out knock in the bottom of the seventh to score Trey Vavra from third, and but the Dogs on top 7-6.
Jared Carkuff (1-0) was awarded the win after 1.2 scoreless innings pitched and Tommy Thorpe was awarded the save (1) after pitching the final 1.1 innings.
With the win, Chicago improved to 10-24 overall while Gary SouthShore fell to 18-16.
Wichta 6, Winnipeg 1- Box Score
The Wichita Wingnuts topped the Winnipeg Goldeyes 6-1 on Monday.
Wingnuts' starter Jordan Cooper (4-3) tossed a gem, allowing just one earned in 6.2 innings of work.
Cooper's performance was buoyed by an offense that took off in the top of the fourth when Fernando Perez and Tony Thomas hit back-to-back home runs to give Wichita a 2-0 lead. The Wingnuts didn't look, back adding two in the seventh as well as the eighth.
Jordan Ebert drove in the lone run for Winnipeg with a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh.
With the win, the Wingnuts improved to 23-13 overall while the Goldeyes fell to 19-17.

The American Associations RBI leader, Nate Samson, moved his total to 36 with a three-run home run in the top of the first to give the Explorers a 3-0 lead. The lead grew to an insurmountable seven in the top of the third when Jose Sermo hit a two-run double and Jay Baum followed by hitting a two-run home run in the next at bat.
Keith Picht (2-2) allowed just one run in seven innings of work for the Explorers.
